BUDDY 4all
-
The BUDDY 4all wheelchair for children and young people offers a sturdy frame with or without abduction and an optional knee lever brake with a brake lever integrated in the clothing guard. The footrest area also offers special options like ‘Variable foot support positions’. Choose from 5 frame and 3 chassis parameters to configure the frame optimally to the wheelchair user’s requirements.
Thanks to its special design, the width of the BUDDY 4all can be adjusted so it grows with its user, making it a reliable companion for many years.
Equipped with the simple seat height adjustment in 1 cm steps and the continuous adjustment of the tipping point, this wheelchair adjusts to the growing requirements of its user.
Thanks to its robust construction, the BUDDY 4all makes an ideal companion for all sorts of adventures. This way children can discover the world on their own and there is nothing to prevent them from taking part in boisterous children's games.
The BUDDY 4all is available with extensive accessories and can thus be upgraded to suit any everyday life situation. Combined with various adaptations such as the FREEWAY steering attachment or the SPIKE adaptive bike, new action areas can be explored.
The adjustment options and the growing feature offer flexibility
As the seat height can be adjusted in 1 cm steps and the tipping point is continuously variable via the wheel plates, the BUDDY 4all can adapt to changing needs. This supports advances in wheelchair handing, encouraging the child to become more independent and mobile.
The seat width can be increased by replacing component groups (depending on the seat width change and the wheelchair equipment, these include the cross-tubes, seat plate/cover, back shell/cover, back cross bar and other component groups depending on the situation), which makes the BUDDY 4all a reliable companion for many years.
Optimal brakes for children and accompanying persons
You can select from different knee lever brakes. When attaching the brake lever to the upper frame tube, you can choose between a long, flared or folding brake lever or a brake lever with a plastic ball.
The knee lever brake with brake control integrated in the clothing guard is particularly practical. The brake lever in the clothing guard is located ergonomically within ideal reach for children. The brake pin is attached under the centre of the drive wheel far out of reach, preventing fingers from being pinched.
A locking knee lever brake can also be installed for the accompanying person, which allows them to operate the brake via the push handles.
Frame with or without abduction
The BUDDY 4all is available with either a straight frame shape or with an abduction frame for more leg room. The abduction frame is also used to achieve leg positions required due to specific disabilities.
The frame of the BUDDY 4all is customised for the user via 5 selectable frame parameters.
Sturdy frame for maximum mobility and compatibility
The frame is rated for user weights of up to 100 kg. With its torsion-resistant frame, the BUDDY 4all has excellent handling characteristics even on rough terrain.
Adapters let you connect traction devices and adaptive bikes in just a few steps, while the sturdy frame ensures optimal handling of the combination. Optionally, the extended wheel plate can be used to implement a wheelbase extension for even better traction.
Compatibility with wheelchair drives like e-fix, e-motion or Twion, for example, can also be provided upon request.
The BUDDY 4all is crash-tested. Transport restraint systems for wheelchairs in motor vehicles are available as optional extras, as are crash-tested headrests.
Simple transport
Since tools are not required to remove component groups and the backrest can optionally be folded down, the BUDDY 4all is ideal for loading independently.
Various footrests are available for optimal leg and foot positioning
Besides one-piece footrests, PRO ACTIV also offers footrest that fold up on one side or both sides for the BUDDY 4all. Footrests that fold up to the rear are also available.
The ‘Variable positioning foot support’ offers a particularly wide range of adjustments and positions. The leg position and the front frame length can be changed as required. This footrest version is available with folding up to the rear as an additional feature.
Option: One-hand operation
For children with hemiplegia or other restrictions affecting one side of their body, a manoeuvrable one-hand operation set-up with a double-gripper wheel drive can be mounted up to a wheel camber of up to 12° (1°, 4°, 6°, 10° or 12°). Different gripper wheel materials, external diameters and distances to the rim meet a wide range of requirements. The drive wheels can be removed using a floating axle for simple handling. The ability to attach a one-hand operation set-up depends on the frame dimensions chosen for the BUDDY 4all and must therefore be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The one-hand operation set-up can be combined with the 'One-handed knee lever brake'. When the brake on one side is activated, a Bowden cable moves the brake pins on both sides.
Option: Outdoor wheel attachment
The wheel attachment turns the wheelchair into an all-terrain vehicle for cobblestones, gravel and forest trails, as the caster wheels are raised off the ground and the larger 12" wheel of the wheel attachment makes it much easier to travel over uneven surfaces. The wheel attachment is quick and easy to attach without any tools using the quick release lever. The wheel of the outdoor wheel attachment with a steering fork swivels 360° and can be locked in a straight ahead position with one motion.
Option: Therapy table
The therapy table is a useful work surface and can be removed in just a few steps without tools using the Quick-pin. Thanks to the continuous height, length and angle adjustment, the therapy table can be optimised for the child's needs.
Various back systems
The backrest is available as a lightweight adaptable back with back padding (belt system for optimal adjustment of slack and padded lumbar support) or as a sturdy back shell (very sturdy with fixed slack and adjustable lumbar support). As an option, you can choose a backrest that can be folded and adjusted at seven different angles, offering flexible seat positions. It is particularly helpful when using adaptive bikes and traction devices, as the ability to adjust the backrest angle forward (perpendicular to the ground) is very useful to compensate for the raised caster wheels. This feature also allows a small pack size for loading.
The ERGO Back backrest bar is also available as an option in addition to the back shell. This backrest bar relieves the strain on your back by allowing you to lean back, and adds an attractive visual touch.
