NJ1 e-assistant
-
The NJ1 e-assistant handbike is equipped with a pedelec system to help the user move the combination. When cranking, the drive system supports the rider at the set support level with speeds of up to 24.9 km/h. This allows users to cover long distances faster and with less exertion. On flat roads and uphill, the electric drive of the handbike provides the force to pull the wheelchair. Downhill, the speed can be controlled using the NJ1 e-assistant’s braking system and through the recuperation, allowing for safe driving on slopes.
The NJ1 e-assistant is best suited for flat to slightly hilly terrain as well as shorter, steeper climbs. Riders in good shape can also overcome longer, steeper climbs with a wheelbase extension.
The neodrives-brand drive system is a high-quality pedelec hub drive that is made in Germany and provides silent support. Energy is recuperated to recharge the battery when travelling downhill. Wheel sizes of 20'' and 24'' are available.
Silent neodrives hub drive
The neodrives hub motor is gearless. As a result, the ride is absolutely silent and free from vibrations, which contributes to a high-quality ride. The sensitive power sensor in the motor lets the user clearly feel the direct response when accelerating, which is a major advantage for hill starts in particular.
With 5 support levels (60%, 120%, 180%, 240%, 300%), the neodrives drive system supports the rider at speeds of up to 24.9 km/h. The maximum torque of 40 Nm is always fully available to the rider, no matter what gear is selected. The drive system stands out with its agile, yet harmonious ride characteristics and intuitive operation, as well as being very low-maintenance.
A speed of up to 6 km/h can be reached without cranking using the starting assistant or pushing aid.
Sturdy adaptation
Connects via a central adapter (fastened onto the axle or cross-tube under the seat surface or onto the folding mechanism) or front adapter (fastened onto the front frame tubes). The adapters are easily adapted to or removed from the wheelchair. When they are removed, the added weight on the wheelchair is minimal, and there are no restrictions to the functionality of the wheelchair (e.g. folding mechanism). The adapter can be used for all PRO ACTIV adaptive bikes, traction devices and steering attachments with the same wheel size: ONE adapter for MANY combinations.
Double the range with the double battery
Users who enjoy longer trips can add an optional double battery for twice the range. The change-over device lets you conveniently switch between the two rechargeable batteries using magnetic connectors on the bottom bracket support. This is also possible without complete finger function.
Recuperation for added range
A special feature of the neodrives hub motor is the ability to charge the battery via recuperation when travelling downhill. This is not only environmentally friendly, it also increases the range even more especially on longer tours. Recuperation extends the battery range by about 10%. At the same time, in this mode, the motor provides braking support and reduces wear on the brake pads. The additional braking effect offers added convenience for neodrives users.
Simple handling when connecting and disconnecting with parking stand
The parking stand makes connecting and disconnecting easier, as it holds the bike at the height required for adaptation. The parking stand also allows the bike to be parked safely when disconnected. The parking stand can be folded up against the product with one step when travelling.
Different gear shift systems
The wide range of high-quality mechanical and electric derailleur gear systems from Shimano ensures that every user can find their ideal equipment. Users can change gears on the handle or using a chin control. A bottom bracket gear system that allows gear changes while at a standstill can also be combined, which is very helpful for hill starts, for example.
Effective brakes
The high-quality, reliable disk and rim brakes slow you down as required and let you brake with pinpoint precision for first-class control. They are operated from the handle. An optional mechanical backpedal disk brake (with crank release function) is also available.
Option: Mechanical backpedal disk brake with crank release function for reversing
The NJ1 e-assistant handbike is also available with a convenient mechanical back-pedelling brake as an option. There is also the option of a crank freewheel for backpedalling. The cranks can be decoupled to manoeuvre back and forth, and you can conveniently reverse using the handrims – ideal for manoeuvring in tight spaces.
Optimum adjustment to the user’s requirements and capabilities
With a range of bottom bracket supports, grip widths and crank lengths, the NJ1 e-assistant dimensions can be adapted perfectly to the user’s needs for an enjoyable ride and perfect control. Wheel sizes of 20'' and 24'' are available.
The adjustable bottom bracket supports can be chosen as an option, which can be adjusted in angle and length to meet the user’s changing needs. The adapter can also be adjusted in angle, height and length.
Wide range of optional extras and accessories
Each NJ1 e-assistant is a customised model, with dimensions and equipment that are always tailored to the wheelchair user’s needs.
The optional equipment includes features for users with functional impairments, such as chin gear shift controls and starting assistant, various handles/supports, adaptation aids and belts for securing the upper body.
