NJ1 adaptive bike
-
The NJ1 adaptive bike is attached to a wheelchair as a mechanical traction aid to support the wheelchair user's mobility. It is easier to cover longer distances with ergonomic movement processes using one's own wheelchair. Through the product's larger drive wheel (compared with the caster wheels of the wheelchair) and the wheelchair's steering wheels which are raised from the ground uneven routes and barriers can overcome more easily and without danger. The downhill speed can be regulated via the adaptive bike's braking systems, so that downhill slopes can be travelled on safely.
The NJ1 adaptive bike is light and stable and has excellent handling characteristics. Top-quality gear and brake components from the bicycle industry ensure precise switching of gears and braking. The adaptive bike equipment is variable, from touring bike to sports bike.
The NJ1 adaptive bike is perfect for beginners. It could also be used as a drive unit for the NJ1 compact bike at a later time, or it could upgraded with a pedelec system as an NJ1 e-assistant.
Sturdy adaptive bike with extensive equipment options
The NJ1 adaptive bike is very sturdy and offers excellent handling characteristics thanks to its design and the materials used. The wide range of components and equipment lets every biker tailor the NJ1 adaptive bike optimally to their personal needs.
Sturdy adaptation
Connects via a central adapter (fastened onto the axle or cross-tube under the seat surface or onto the folding mechanism) or front adapter (fastened onto the front frame tubes). The adapters are easily adapted to or removed from the wheelchair. When they are removed, the added weight on the wheelchair is minimal, and there are no restrictions to the functionality of the wheelchair (e.g. folding mechanism). The adapter can be used for all PRO ACTIV adaptive bikes, traction devices and steering attachments with the same wheel size: ONE adapter for MANY combinations.
Simple handling when connecting and disconnecting with parking stand
The parking stand makes connecting and disconnecting easier, as it holds the bike at the height required for adaptation. The parking stand also allows the bike to be parked safely when disconnected. The parking stand can be folded up against the product with one step when travelling.
Different gear shift systems
There is a wide range of high-quality hub gears from Shimano and Rohloff. Mechanical and electronic dérailleur systems from Shimano are also available. They can be operated from the handle or using a chin control. This allows every user find the perfect equipment for their needs. A bottom bracket gearshift can also be combined to allow for even more gears and to enable shifting while at a standstill with dérailleur systems, which is very helpful for hill starts, for example.
Effective brakes
Some hub gear units include an easy-to-use back-pedal brake.
Where dérailleur gear systems or hub gear units with freewheel hubs are equipped, you can use the high-quality, reliable disk and rim brakes to slow down and brake precisely for first-class control. They are operated from the handle. An optional mechanical back-pedal disk brake (with crank release function) is also available.
Option: Mechanical back-pedal disk brake with crank release function for reversing
The NJ1 adaptive bike is also available with a convenient mechanical back-pedal brake as an option. Tis option also enables a crank freewheel for back-pedalling. The cranks can be decoupled and you can conveniently reverse using the handrims – ideal for manoeuvring in tight spaces.
Optimum adjustment to the user’s requirements and capabilities
With a range of bottom bracket supports, grip widths and crank lengths, the NJ1 adaptive bike dimensions can be perfectly adapted to the user’s needs for an enjoyable ride and perfect control. Wheel sizes of 20”, 24” and 26” are available.
The adjustable bottom bracket supports can be chosen as an option, which can be adjusted in angle and length to meet the user’s changing needs. The adapter can also be adjusted in angle, height and length.
Wide range of optional extras and accessories
Each NJ1 adaptive bike is a customised model, with dimensions and equipment that are always tailored to the wheelchair user’s needs.
The optional equipment includes features for users with functional impairments, such as various handles/supports, adaptation aids and belts for securing the upper body.
