Mobility that grows with your child - for active, self-determined growth

Thanks to its sophisticated design, the BUDDY not only grows with the child in terms of width, but can also be perfectly adjusted in 1 cm increments thanks to the finely adjustable seat height and tilt point adjustment - for a healthy sitting posture and optimum mobility development over many years.

Safe braking solutions - for little riders and big companions

The BUDDY offers various knee lever brake systems that are tailored to the needs of the child and accompanying person. There are several brake lever variants for the child to choose from, depending on their motor skills and ergonomic requirements.

The integrated knee lever brake system in the clothes guard is particularly child-friendly: the brake lever is located directly within the child's reach, easy to reach and intuitive to operate. The actual brake mechanism is located below the centre of the drive wheel so that fingers cannot get trapped when gripping.

For additional safety in everyday use, the BUDDY can be equipped with a parking brake for the accompanying person.

Abduction frame - more space for movement and therapy

For children who need more legroom or a special leg position, the BUDDY is available with an abduction frame. This frame shape creates additional space in the leg area and thus supports physiologically sensible and disability-specific positioning for more comfort, freedom of movement and therapeutic benefits.

Thanks to seven selectable frame parameters, the BUDDY frame can be customised to the child's physical requirements and needs from a seat width of 20 cm. The result is a wheelchair that fits perfectly.

Strong frame - for maximum mobility and versatile applications

The BUDDY is designed for a user weight of up to 100 kg and impresses with its torsion-resistant frame, which enables stable riding characteristics and good power transmission even on uneven terrain. This means that children and young people are safe, active and enjoyable when out and about.

Whether with a towing device, adaptive bike or attachment - the stable frame ensures safe, controlled handling, even when used for sportier or rougher rides. The BUDDY can be optionally equipped with an extended wheel plate for more traction. For greater independence and longer distances, the BUDDY can also be combined with electric wheelchair drives such as e-fix or e-motion on request.

The BUDDY is crash-tested. A power knot system for safe wheelchair restraint in the vehicle and a crash-tested headrest are available as options - for maximum safety during transport in the car or bus.

Easy to transport - simply stowed away, wherever you go

The BUDDY can be dismantled quickly and without tools. Assemblies such as the drive wheels or castor forks with quick-release axle can be removed in one easy step. In combination with the foldable backrest, the wheelchair becomes particularly compact and is therefore ideal for transport in the car. Whether it's a family outing, doctor's appointment or holiday trip - the BUDDY goes with you and fits flexibly into your everyday life.

Various footrests for optimum leg and foot positioning

The BUDDY offers a variety of footrest options for a healthy and comfortable sitting position: In addition to full-length versions, there is also a choice of footrests that can be folded up on one or both sides and folded up towards the rear - ideal for transfers, therapy applications and flexibility in everyday life.

The ‘variably positionable footrest’ version is particularly adaptable. It enables individual adjustment of the leg position and lower leg length for optimum, growth-accompanying positioning with added therapeutic value.

Option: One-hand drive - mobile despite restrictions on one side of the body

For children with hemiparesis or other one-sided movement restrictions, the BUDDY offers the option of a one-hand drive with double grip ring. This enables active and manoeuvrable driving even with limited function on one side of the body. Depending on requirements, the wheel camber can be selected between 1° and 12°. Different handrim materials, outer diameters and distances from the rim ensure customisation to suit the child's gripping ability and hand size. For easy everyday handling, the drive wheels can be removed quickly and without tools using the quick-release axle.

The one-hand drive can be combined with the ‘knee lever brake with one-hand operation’: both brakes are actuated simultaneously using a Bowden cable - safely and reliably using just one lever.

Option: Therapy table - ideal for play, school and therapy

The therapy table offers a practical work surface and can be removed in a few simple steps using a quick-release clamp without tools. Thanks to the infinitely variable height, length and angle positioning, the therapy table can be optimally adjusted to the child's needs.

Option: Outdoor wheel attachment as a steering and pushing aid

With the outdoor wheel attachment, the BUDDY becomes an all-terrain companion for excursions on cobblestones, gravel paths or forest trails. The castor wheels are lifted off the ground so that the large 12-inch wheel of the wheel attachment effortlessly rolls over uneven surfaces for more driving comfort and ease off-road. It can be attached quickly and without tools using a practical quick-release clamp - ideal for spontaneous adventures.

Different back systems - customised and flexible

There are two backrest systems to choose from for optimum seating comfort: a lightweight adjustable backrest with individually adjustable belt system and padding or a stable backrest shell with fixed sag and adjustable lumbar support. A 7-way angle-adjustable, foldable backrest is available as an option - ideal for flexible sitting positions, especially when using adaptive bikes and traction devices.

The backrest system can be supplemented with the ERGO Back backrest bar. This combines a predetermined lateral guide with a ‘soft’ upper transition, which offers advantages when leaning back or overstretching the spine. An individualised lumbar curve also supports the physiological alignment of the spine. Optionally, it is possible to have the frame with a V-shaped extension (for a narrow pelvis and wide torso) or an A-shaped retraction (for a wide pelvis and narrow torso, so that the upper arms/elbows do not hit the back tubes when swinging back).
